Welcome

The Bluff Australasia hand rankings guide

Here are the basic Texas Hold’em hands, in order of strongest to weakest:

  1. Royal straight flush: A royal flush is a straight flush with an Ace as the high card value of Ace (e.g. Ad, Kd, Qd, Jd, 10d)
  2. Straight flush: A flush in the same suit (e.g. 6c, 5c, 4c, 3c, 2c).
  3. Four of a kind: Four cards of the same value (e.g. Kh, Kc, Ks, Kd).
  4. Full house: Three of a kind combined with a pair (e.g: 7, 7, 7, J, J). If more than one player has a full house, the winner is the player with a higher three of a kind (as there can’t be more than two sets of three of a kind in the deck).
  5. Flush: Any five cards of the same suit, but not in sequence. If two players have a flush in the same suit, the player with the highest card wins (e.g. Ah, Jh, 7h, 5h, 2h beats Kh, Qh, 9h, 6h, 3h).
  6. Straight: Five cards in sequence not of the same suit. The straight with the highest card wins (e.g. Qh, Js, 10c, 9s, 8d beats Jc, 10d, 9s, 8c, 7h).
  7. Three of a kind: Three cards of the same value. The three of a kind of the highest value wins (e.g. Q, Q, Q, 4, 2 beats J, J, J, A, K).
  8. Two pair: Two pairs. If more than one player has two pairs, the player with the pair of the higher value wins (e.g. A, A, 9, 9, 2 beats K, K, Q, Q, 8).
  9. Pair: One pair. If more than one player has a pair, the player with the pair of the higher value wins (e.g 3, 3, 9, 8, 6 beats 2, 2, A, K, 4).
  10. High card: If the hand has none of the above combinations, the winner is the player with the card of the highest value. If two players have the same high card, the player with the second highest card wins.
